What the heck is this place?
SSDC.com is the official online presence for the roleplaying games Battlelords of the 23rd Century and Blood Dawn, produced by SSDC, Inc. On our site you can find information on these games and other products, purchase the games, and find out how to get in touch with others who play these games. We provide some interactive pages, like the Graffiti Wall, and a huge collection of links to the rest of the hobby gaming industry.
What is roleplaying?
Story telling is roleplaying! Someone tells a story. You play the part of a character in that story. So do your friends.
The narrator takes you on an adventure and you try to solve it. Roleplaying is like being in a movie, but a movie where YOU are the star; and YOU decide the plot and outcome. The narrator's job is to unveil the plot bit by bit, leading you on a journey of discovery. Roleplaying builds and develops imagination in younger players, while keeping the creative skills in adults fresh. Dice add an element of "fate", "chance", or "luck". You should never get too caught up in the rules. Simply put, roleplaying is using your imagination to have fun!
Why a d100 system?
First and foremost a percentile (d100) system is more realistic. This system allows for more variety than other systems. The d100 system allows such cool terms as the double zod (00). The d100 system lends more excitement to the game, and allows us to offer an incredible variety of equipment statistics. The d100 system also allows for the "luck" roll - a roll of 01 is always successful, and a roll of 00 is always a failure.

Why is Battlelords cool?
First off it is a deep-space roleplaying game. There are not many deep-space roleplaying games, especially ones that have been around for as long as Battlelords. There are 27 very different races to play. Everyone can find a race they like. There are no dwarves or elves :) Battlelords is percentile or d100 based, which allows for a lot more realism than a d20 game. Battlelords has lots and lots of equipment and weapons. Over 2000 pieces, ranging from plasma cannons to gravitational sheers, to computers, to the good old Swiss Army knife. Battlelords books are fun and humorous to read, after all it is a game, and it is supposed to be fun.
