Hello all!  I am new to the boards and I have a few BL questions. Forgive me if these have already been answered in another post.

1. Light Swords - Do they have there own skill or will skill levels in the appropriate AHW(long, broad or TH sword) allow you to use the Light Sword at that level of proficiency?

I think I will keep it to question at a time for now. Thanks in advance

I believe they require their own skill, and I thought there was Modern Hand Weapon skill, or that may have been a weapon category.

I always assumed they used there own skill. Where I got confused was reading through the L+L:W&T book in the weapon skills chart in the back it lists that Modern Hand Weapons use the Archaic Hand Weapons skill.

but Archaic Hand Weapon is all about selecting a type... ie Plasma Sword... so yes it's own skill, so to say.

Yep. It's would be Archaic Hand Weapon-Plasma Sword. If you wanted to say use an Energy Mace as well, then you'd need another skill called Archaic Hand Weapon-Energy Mace.

Here is our take on the light sword:

Although this is a personal preference, I think non-Eridani Vax should have to pay twice as much in skill points to gain levels using this since they aren't trained from birth to do so

A plasma torch is in the handle, powered by an energy clip. The plasma is kept in check with an electromagnetic coil in the blade.

The Eridani energy blade is akin to a 'vibro-blade' or a 'ghost-blade'.

The only sound it makes while being swung is the normal displacement of air any blade makes while moving through the atmosphere at great speed.

Using an Eridani Light Sword or Energy Knife takes years of proper training since it is only sharp on one edge. If used incorrectly the stress and feedback causes the electromagnetic coil in to malfunction. It will either burn out or more likely explode, causing shrapnel damage to the untrained user, blowing off their hand or possibly even blinding them. To a Ram Python it would merely sting and they are always one to enjoy a good light show. Shiny!

Great looking, did you model that in 3d? If so what software did you use?

Thanks for the feedback!
No Smiley

I used the Handle Mike O. drew in Lock-n-Load and applied some effects in photshop then drew the rest in photoshop.

At some point our martial arts/ hand-to-hand guru will design a real Eridani fighting style. Its our long term goal at AVPI to eventually use motion capture and bring that right into the eventual console video game.

He's willing to construct a launguage as well and we could use some help compiling every single existing Eridani term in the books (with the English translation where known)

(Directed to any Eridani lovers out there that want to help us!)
